Come visit the charming Mary Washington House Museum Store and sit down with your friends and family for an afternoon tea. Our signature Mary Washington blend tea; a young Hyson tea, will be served alongside her very own gingerbread, a raspberry honey cake, and of course, tea sandwiches!

Washington Heritage Museums' very own Heather Meadows will interpret Mary Washington and discuss her daily life. Afterward, she will be happy to answer any questions at the conclusion of a stroll through Mary Washington's neighborhood and all the way to Meditation Rock by the Mary Washington Monument.

Explore historic Fredericksburg's best-kept secret! Only open twice a year, this beautiful home and garden belonged to one of the area's early attorneys, James Mercer. It was lovingly curated with antique furniture by Daniel Breslin and William Tolerton in the 1960s and remains a local favorite.

This October, join us in remembering all those brave women who have battled breast cancer, and to honor our friends and loved ones who do so today.

Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, members of the public are invited to tie a pink ribbon to the fence in front of the Mary Washington House. This free activity brings visibility to the disease and allows community members to honor or remember the courageous women of their choice. Stop inside to prepare your ribbon, or reserve one online and we'll tie it on for you!

Washington Heritage Museums is proud to welcome Michael Cecere for a discussion and book signing on his biography, Second to No Man but the Commander in Chief: Hugh Mercer, American Patriot. Copies of the book are available now to purchase at the Apothecary Shop and will be available for purchase the day of the event. A period tea, tea sandwiches and scones prepared by the Mary Washington House Museum Store volunteers will be served.

Tea Talk with Kyle Griffith

Kyle Griffith, an interpreter from the Rising Sun Tavern, is pleased to present some of his family's heirlooms and artifacts that inspired the writing of his recent book, Piedmont Culture. Many of the artifacts relate to the farming of tobacco and rural material culture from more than a century ago. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. A Bourbon blend and a period blend tea will be served, along with savory and sweet offerings prepared by the Mary Washington House Museum Store volunteers.
